Better 3D Printer Filament Cooling Duct Improves Print Quality

While printing filament cooling ducts for our E3D Titan Aero toolheads, I noticed that some ducts had consistently poorer print quality on the overhangs of some corners, while others had even performance on all corner overhangs, even when printing with the same printer and filament roll.  Keith pointed out that I had switched toolheads between stock and one of our upgraded E3D Titan Aero toolheads with the surround filament cooling ducts.  I hadn’t expected the more even cooling to make that much of a difference, but it indeed does.

Prevent burned fingers!

A custom molded silicone boot surrounds the heater block, preventing accidental burns, and keeps stray filament from melting to the heater block, making cleanup of stray filament easy.

Abrasive filaments? Sure!

We can customize our E3D Titan Aero toolheads for you to better withstand the wear from abrasive filled PLA filaments like stainless steel PLA, carbon fiber PLA, and iron PLA.

Hob:
E3D Hardened Steel HOB GEAR
Heat Break:
E3D Titanium Heat Break tube (currently only available in 1.75mm)
Micro Swiss Wear resistant Coated Stainless heat break for E3D V6
Nozzle:
Micro Swiss Wear resistant Coated Brass Nozzle for E3D V6 is a great balance of performance, price, and upgraded abrasion resistance
Micro Swiss Hardened A2 Steel Nozzle E3D V6 for maximum durability
E3D V6 Extra Hardened Steel Nozzle for maximum durability
Nozzle sizes vary by option, be sure to check them all for the size you’re looking for! Brass and copper nozzles tend to perform better than steel due to their better conductivity.

How do toolhead upgrades work?

– In order notes, request that the upgraded parts be installed.
– We install the upgraded parts (we keep the stock parts) and ship you the toolhead tested and ready to print!
