Overview
Quick & Easy Upgrade
Upgrading is easy.
If your LulzBot TAZ already has a LulzBot Modular Print Bed System installed, this upgrade simply replaces your Glass/PEI Print Surface. If you do not already have the TAZ Etched Modular Print Bed Heater, you must also purchase one with your OctoGrab™ Magnetic Flex Bed.
To upgrade, simply remove the four bed leveling washers and existing glass/PEI bed from your TAZ Etched Modular Print Bed Heater equipped TAZ printer. Insert the OctoGrab™ aluminum magnetic base on top of the TAZ Etched Modular Print Bed Heater and replace your bed leveling washers.
Important: Adjust your Z offset to the new print surface and start printing!
After prolonged use, you may need to clean your OctoGrab™ surface with a 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water to renew its adhesion abilities. Allow the surface to dry completely before printing.

LOVE this new print bed. Great adhesion with my usual PETG printing. I have a little trouble setting the magnetic bed down, because the WHOLE bed will attach to any of the magnets, so you have to push it hard against the corners and hope it’s right before letting go, because you can’t just “scooch it over”. These magnets have a great hold and I haven’t found ANY variation across the bed. (Super flat/level.)
NOTE: I own a Taz 5 and was able to upgrade to this with a little pre-planning. But ultimately, all you need is a 30mm OD washer to match the Taz 6 bed corner fingers. I created and printed some washer inserts so that the same M3 screws I used for the Taz5 fingers would hold the washers down and align with the magnetic bed.
